A half-day course for designated Fire Marshals and Fire Wardens, meeting the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Course Overview
This Fire Marshal Training course provides learners with the knowledge and confidence required to take on the role of a designated Fire Marshal or Fire Warden in the workplace. The course meets the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, ensuring organisations comply with UK fire safety legislation. Up to 12 delegates per course, delivered by highly experienced emergency medics with real-life emergency response experience. All courses can be accredited if required.
Course content:
- Fire safety legislation: employer and employee responsibilities under UK fire safety law
- The role of the Fire Marshal / Fire Warden: duties before, during and after an emergency, including proactive fire prevention
- Common causes of workplace fires: identifying hazards and reducing fire risks in different environments
- Fire behaviour and fire spread: how fires develop, the fire triangle, and how to interrupt fire progression
- Emergency evacuation procedures: coordinating safe evacuation, assisting vulnerable persons, and managing assembly points
- Identifying fire hazards and risks: spotting risks and implementing control measures
- Types of fire and fire extinguishers: extinguisher classes, when to use them and when not to
- Practical fire extinguisher familiarisation: safe handling, operation principles and limitations (non-live fire)
- Fire safety checks and routine inspections: daily, weekly and monthly checks
- Communication during an emergency: giving clear instructions, supporting colleagues and liaising with emergency services
- Post-evacuation responsibilities: roll-call procedures, incident reporting and supporting fire safety reviews
