First Aid At Work (FAW) 3 day course
Intended Audience
The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.
Course Overview
Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including:
- Assessing an incident
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- CPR
- Seizures
- Choking
- Minor bleeding including grazes and splinter removal
- Serious Bleeding and Shock
- Burns and scalds
- Bone, Muscles and joint injuries
- Spinal and Head Injuries
- Chest injuries
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylactic shock including the use of an Epi pen
- Heart attack, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma and Diabetes
- Understanding the role of the first-aider
- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and actions
Qualification overview
This Level 3 certificate is valid for 3 years and is nationally recognised.
The HSE recommend that a three hour annual refresher course is completed and on the third year a two day level three Requalification to maintain this qualification.
