First Aid at Work Requalification

This course is taught to the current accepted first aid practices and in accordance with the Health and Safety (first aid) regulations 1981.

Intended Audience

This course is for anyone who has already completed the 3 day First Aid at Work qualification. Once your certificate is due for renewal or the date has expired this course will need to be completed to keep your qualification. Due to new HSE guidelines even when your FAW certificate has expired you still only need to complete this course irrelevant of how long it has lapsed. This course covers everything included in the full FAW course which reconfirms the skills and knowledge on how to assess a situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in a first aid situation.

Course Overview

Over a 2 day period, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including:

  • Unconscious (including seizure)
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Minor bleeding including grazes and splinter removal
  • Serious Bleeding and Shock
  • Burns and scalds
  • Bone, Muscles and joint injuries
  • Spinal and Head Injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning
  • Anaphylactic shock including the use of an Epi pen
  • Heart attack, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Understanding the role of the first-aider
  • The importance of preventing cross infection

 

Qualification overview

The Certificate is valid for 3 years.

Once completed, this allows a previously qualified Level 3 First Aid At Work learner to retain their certificate for a further 3 years.
